LADY OF THE LAKE
Dorell Taylor
Dorell Taylor is a passionate storyteller, historian, and long-time champion of the heritage and community spirit of Waskesiu Lake. As the editor and compiler of the beloved Waskesiu Memories series, she dedicated decades to preserving the personal stories, photographs, and history of generations who experienced life in and around Prince Albert National Park. What began in 1998 as a “labour of love” grew into a three-volume collection that has become an invaluable historical resource and treasured keepsake for families, visitors, and researchers alike.
Known for her deep love of “the lake” and her gift for bringing people together through shared memories, Dorell’s work helped preserve stories that may otherwise have been lost to time. Her contributions to Saskatchewan heritage were recognized with the 2023 Everett Baker Award for Saskatchewan Heritage, honouring her outstanding commitment to community history and preservation.
